Meet Jesse Rousher —

I was born and raised right here in Bozeman, Montana. I went to Sacagawea Middle School and then Bozeman High School, where I wrestled, played football, and ran track and field. Growing up, I spent a lot of time in the mountains too — snowboarding at Bridger Bowl, Big Sky, and Moonlight Basin. After high school, I went on to study at Carroll College and Montana State University. My first career was actually in aviation — I became a commercial pilot and certified flight instructor. But after a few years in that world, I realized the industry's boom-and-bust cycles weren't the kind of stability I wanted to build a career, or a family, around. As the saying goes, nothing in life is certain except death and taxes — so I went back to what I'd studied in school and made the shift into accounting.

I started small, doing bookkeeping for local subcontractors here in Bozeman. From there, I spent over eight years building a career across a range of accounting roles — from staff accountant to Controller — gaining experience in everything from day-to-day bookkeeping to full financial leadership for growing companies. Along the way, I also spent time with Fluor Corporation, a large, publicly traded government contractor, where I helped support the demobilization efforts in Afghanistan — an experience that gave me a very different perspective on scale, process, and precision. Most of my career, though, has been rooted right here in the Gallatin Valley, working with Bozeman-area businesses and getting to know this community from the inside.

Eventually, I realized the skills I'd built could serve more than just one company at a time. I began taking on outside clients — general contractors here in the Gallatin Valley, as well as businesses outside construction entirely, like physical therapy practices and more. That work became the foundation for Rousher Accounting & Consulting.

Credentials & Expertise

Over more than eight years in the field, I've built hands-on expertise across a range of accounting systems and tools. I'm a certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, and I've worked extensively with Sage Intacct at the corporate level — helping build out and refine the chart of accounts and configure the system to fit an organization's specific needs. I've also managed multi-entity payroll operations through Workforce Go, and I'm highly proficient in Excel for financial modeling, reporting, and analysis.

Where I Really Add Value

Beyond the technical side, what I'm best at is spotting inefficiencies — the clunky, time-consuming processes that quietly eat into a business owner's day — and building better systems to fix them. Every hour you spend wrestling with bookkeeping, payroll, or financial reporting is an hour you're not spending on the things that actually grow your business: winning new customers, closing sales, and scaling operations. I call it the "zombie work" — the behind-the-scenes tasks that have to get done but don't move your business forward. My job is to take that off your plate, streamline it, and make it faster and more efficient, so you can focus on what matters most.

Custom Solutions & Systems Integration

That problem-solving approach goes beyond spreadsheets and reports — I've built custom software solutions and processes tailored to a company's specific needs on multiple occasions, linking systems that, on paper, were never designed to talk to each other into one cohesive, efficient workflow. That same approach carries into every business I work with: understanding your specific tools and pain points, then building a solution that actually fits.
